Meta has introduced a set of new features on its social media platform, Threads, designed to help podcast creators promote their shows, expand their audiences, and directly engage with listeners. This announcement was made on Wednesday, marking a strategic move as Threads aims to carve out a niche in the competitive social media landscape, particularly against X.
While Threads is not currently hosting podcasts, the platform is focused on becoming a centralized space for posting and discussing audio content. This development follows X’s recent push for creators to share their podcasts and videos directly on its platform to increase monetization opportunities and user interaction.
Among the new offerings, Threads will showcase a podcast profile card and banner on creator profiles, along with tappable cards for episode links that appear in posts, facilitating easy access for users to listen to episodes. This integration is expected to enhance user experience and interaction.

Another significant feature allows podcast hosts to share episode transcripts, which listeners can read in tandem with the audio. Additionally, creators can tag guests in their posts, generating related cards that provide further context. This functionality enables users to save posts, making revisiting episodes more convenient.
To enhance creator engagement, Threads will send reminders to creators when new episodes are released, encouraging them to post updates on the platform. Furthermore, the new tools provide creators with insights on audience interaction, including metrics that track views over time from followers and non-followers alike.

Threads previously implemented features aimed at fostering discussions around podcasts, such as improved link cards and profile linking. As of June, Threads has reportedly reached 500 million active users, putting it on par with X in terms of user engagement.
