Streamer IShowSpeed is facing a lawsuit after allegedly punching and choking the viral humanoid robot known as Rizzbot during a livestream, leading to claims of significant financial and operational damages.
The Legal Battle for Accountability
Joel Levine, the attorney representing Social Robotics, stated that the legal action was initiated after negotiations with Speed’s management regarding compensation for the damaged robot reached a stalemate. “This was an event that was livestreamed so there’s not a ton of discrepancy as to the facts,” Levine noted. “What we’re looking for is some accountability.”
The legal petition explicitly claims that the streamer “failed to act as a careful, reasonable, and prudent person” and “wrongfully exercised control” over the hardware. Speed’s management team has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
Financial Fallout and Missed Opportunities
According to the filing, the destruction of the robot resulted in substantial economic loss. The team behind Rizzbot asserts that the damage prevented the robot from fulfilling high-profile professional commitments, including appearances on CBS’s The NFL Today and a production with MrBeast. The petition highlighted the magnitude of these losses, stating, “Being in a MrBeast production is akin to being in a Super Bowl Commercial.”
Prior to the incident, Rizzbot had established significant viral momentum, generating over 600 million views on TikTok and 200 million on Instagram in the preceding month. However, in the 28 days following the incident, viewership plummeted by more than 70% as the robot remained unable to produce new content. The petition argues that this destruction caused “significant financial damage that is likely permanent given the viral nature of social media.”
Rizzbot’s Return and Ongoing Litigation
While the litigation is in its early stages with no formal answer yet provided by the defense, Rizzbot has confirmed that it required a complete body replacement after being “wrecked” by Speed. The robot’s owners are seeking legal recourse to address the damage caused during the broadcast.
In a statement provided via email, Rizzbot claimed, “Everything’s brand new except my Nike kicks and cowboy hat.” The robot added that it is back online and focused on future developments: “Now I’m back online, and I feel like I’ve mastered the rizz game, and next I’ll be working on complex movements with my legs, like twerking — hopefully you’ll see my gyrating hips on some new TV appearances shortly — stay tuned, fam.”
