On Thursday, Snapchat revealed the introduction of “Snapchat Plans,” a new set of tools designed to facilitate the creation, sharing, and management of real-world events among friends. This feature enables users to send and receive invitations while tracking essential details such as time, location, and attendees—all within a single interface.
According to the company, these features can be utilized for organizing a variety of events, ranging from birthday parties and sports gatherings to study sessions and casual weekend meetups.
With the rollout of Snapchat Plans, the platform aims to rival Partiful, a well-known event planning and digital invitation service. This move comes as younger audiences increasingly rely on specialized apps for organizing social functions instead of traditional group chats or social media platforms. Earlier, Apple entered the space with its own app called Invites, which allows users to craft custom invitations for various occasions.
Users can create an event termed a “Snapchat Plan” by inputting a title, selecting a date and time, and inviting up to 200 friends. Invitations are sent directly through private chats with each invited individual. Invitees can then respond with options such as “Going,” “Maybe,” or “Can’t Go.”

Moreover, a new section titled “My Plans” will be accessible on user profiles, enabling them to swiftly view all their current, upcoming, and previous Snapchat Plans. Users can also see events they share with friends by visiting their profiles.
Once a Snapchat Plan is established, hosts have the capability to monitor attendance, invite additional friends, and modify event details as necessary. Guests are able to check the complete guest list, update their RSVP at any time, and receive a reminder an hour prior to the event.
While Snapchat has maintained a significant presence in the social media landscape over the last decade, the company is now broadening its focus beyond online communication to enhance real-life social interactions. This aligns with a growing trend where Gen Z seeks to foster more in-person connections, moving away from digital engagement.
“No more missed get-togethers because of buried messages, lost details, or forgetting to create an invitation,” the company stated in a blog post. “Snapchat Plans make it easier to organize these special in-person moments with your friends.”
Snapchat emphasizes that the Plans feature is private and operates on an invite-only basis.
