Instagram has unveiled a new feature that enhances user control over profile content by allowing the addition of tagged posts directly to profile grids. This rollout begins today, providing users with a simple way to manage their online presence.
While this update may not be revolutionary, it addresses a common scenario many users face: after attending events such as parties or concerts, people often find that friends post group photos where they are tagged. Previously, users might feel hesitant to repost the same image, creating an awkward situation. Instagram’s latest feature aims to simplify this process.
Users can now add tagged posts to their profile grid through various methods, including notifications received in direct messages, directly from the tagged post itself, or via the Tagged tab in their profiles. Should you wish to change your mind later, removing the post from your grid is straightforward and does not affect its original location.
Importantly, adding a tagged post does not alter the original post; it remains intact in its place. Users retain the flexibility to remove the image from their profile at any time without it disappearing from their Tagged tab.

This new feature is particularly beneficial for creators and brands. It allows them to showcase collaborations without needing to republish the same content or rely on the “Invite collaborators” option. This functionality is especially useful in brand campaigns where multiple creators are tagged in a single piece of content, enabling all involved to highlight it on their profiles.
This update aligns with Instagram’s ongoing efforts to empower users in curating their profiles. In June, the platform introduced the “Reorder your grid” feature, which allows users to rearrange their profile content to better reflect their personal style.
Additionally, Instagram continues to enhance its content creation tools. Recent introductions include “First Draft,” an editing feature that helps users create initial video cuts by automatically trimming selected clips and removing unnecessary pauses. Another addition is the “Replace Audio” tool, which enables users to change the music on existing posts at will.
