Mobileye has officially acquired humanoid robotics startup Mentee Robotics for $900 million, a strategic move aimed at accelerating the development of production-ready humanoid robots by leveraging Mobileye’s extensive AI training infrastructure and compute resources.
Strategic Synergy: Boosting Robotics with Mobileye’s AI
The development of functional, mass-produced humanoid robots remains a capital-intensive endeavor. By joining forces with Mobileye, Mentee Robotics gains critical access to high-level computational power and sophisticated AI training frameworks, positioning the startup to overcome traditional scaling barriers in the robotics industry.
Mobileye’s Momentum in Automotive Tech
This acquisition follows a significant commercial milestone for Mobileye, announced just one day prior. The company confirmed that a “top 10 automaker” has signed a contract to procure 9 million of its EyeQ6H-based Surround Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This deal builds on the momentum established in March, when Volkswagen Group committed to utilizing the same chip technology.
With these latest agreements, Mobileye projects a total delivery volume exceeding 19 million units of its EyeQ6H-based Surround systems, reinforcing its dominance in the hands-off driver assistance market while simultaneously diversifying into the robotics sector.
