Deezer has officially disclosed that a staggering 44% of all songs uploaded to its platform on a daily basis are generated by artificial intelligence. This revelation follows the company’s pioneering move in June 2025 to implement platform-level tagging for AI-created tracks, a strategy intended to bring transparency to the rapidly evolving digital music landscape. Throughout the course of 2025, the streaming service successfully identified and labeled over 13.4 million AI-generated tracks within its vast library.
A New Standard for Transparency
By becoming the first major streaming platform to systematically tag AI-generated content, Deezer has set a new industry benchmark for how streaming services handle the influx of synthetic audio. This initiative provides users with clearer insights into the origin of the music they consume, addressing growing concerns regarding the saturation of machine-made content in the music industry.
Industry Responses to the AI Surge
The approach to managing AI content varies significantly across the streaming sector. In February, the French high-fidelity streaming service Qobuz announced its own commitment to tag AI-generated content, aiming to protect both artists and listeners from an overflow of synthetic material.
Meanwhile, industry giants like Spotify and Apple Music have adopted alternative strategies. Their current frameworks often rely on a combination of automated filters designed to weed out low-quality AI music, alongside various transparency measures that delegate the responsibility of disclosure to music distributors and labels.
