Apple revealed that its App Store ecosystem facilitated a staggering $1.3 trillion in total billings and sales throughout 2023, with the vast majority of this revenue generated without any commission taken by the tech giant.
Global Growth and Regional Trends
The study underscores significant regional expansion, revealing that billings and sales driven by the App Store have more than doubled over the past five years across the United States, China, and Europe. A major driver of this momentum is the surge in digital payment spending; specifically, spending in the U.S. has grown by more than seven times since 2019, fueled by the widespread adoption of mobile payment technologies.
Driving Developer Success and Platform Reach
Beyond the financial milestones, the report highlights the massive scale of the platform, which currently attracts an average of 813 million weekly visitors globally. Apple continues to emphasize its commitment to the developer community by reinvesting in critical infrastructure.
These investments span a wide range of essential resources designed to bolster developer success, including advanced coding and distribution platforms, proprietary frameworks, comprehensive analytics, robust anti-fraud systems, and dedicated developer support services.
