The tech giant confirmed that it is abandoning the traditional numbering scheme—such as iOS 19—to align all platforms with the current calendar year. Consequently, the new lineup includes iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26.
This shift aims to eliminate confusion and establish a consistent identity across the entire Apple ecosystem. The rebranding is accompanied by a major aesthetic shift revealed during the keynote. Apple introduced a comprehensive design overhaul dubbed “Liquid Glass,” characterized by a highly transparent, fluid interface.
