Mastering the court like Steph Curry or Sabrina Ionescu requires relentless repetition, but finding a reliable partner to rebound your shots is a constant struggle. Davy Robot aims to solve this with the Datic 1, an AI-powered basketball robot that automatically tracks and returns your shots, set to hit the market later this year for approximately $1,000.
The Ultimate Training Partner
The Datic 1 captured significant attention at CES 2025, where attendees flocked to the show floor to test the machine’s capabilities. Designed to sit directly under the hoop, the robot eliminates the tedious task of chasing down balls, allowing players to focus entirely on their shooting form.

AI-Driven Precision and Portability
Weighing in at approximately 33 pounds, the system is designed for portability. Users can easily wheel the unit into position under any hoop. Once in place, the device’s arms extend upward, deploying a net to catch the ball. While the prototype demonstrated at CES utilized a lowered hoop, the final consumer version is engineered to reach the standard regulation height of 10 feet.
The intelligence behind the Datic 1 lies in its integration of machine vision and artificial intelligence. By actively tracking the shooter’s position, the robot swivels its head to accurately return the ball, creating a seamless loop of practice.
Availability
Davy Robot has announced plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for the Datic 1 this coming June, marking the next step in bringing this autonomous training assistant to basketball courts everywhere.
