Canva is launching its upgraded AI 2.0 assistant this week, introducing advanced automation capabilities that allow the bot to execute specific design tools and schedule recurring tasks on behalf of users.
Next-Level Design Automation
The latest update empowers the AI assistant to call upon various internal tools to handle design creation directly. Beyond simple generation, the platform now includes a scheduling feature. Users can instruct the AI to manage repeatable tasks in the background; however, the system is designed to generate a draft for user review and approval before any content is officially published.
Enhanced AI Capabilities and Code Integration
Canva is also pushing further into productivity by refining its existing AI suite. The platform’s AI code generator now supports HTML imports, providing more flexibility for web-based design elements. Additionally, users can leverage natural language text prompts to describe and generate complex spreadsheets, streamlining data visualization workflows.
Boosting Efficiency and Reducing Costs
Performance remains a core focus of this release. Canva reports significant improvements in its AI model efficiency. The company claims its Lucid Origin image-generation model is now 5x faster and 30x cheaper to operate. Similarly, the 12V image-to-video model has seen a major boost, now running 7x faster and 17x more cost-effectively.
Availability
Canva AI 2.0 is currently entering a research preview phase this week. The company intends to roll out these features to its entire user base over the coming weeks.
